is it bad that i avoid going downstairs in my own home so that my six year step-niece doesn't talk my head off about spongebob and her stuffed animals for hours? i mean, how do you keep your distance from a child who desperately seeks attention. if i give her attention and bond with her, her mom might ask me to babysit, and since i cannot say no, i would have to. these are selfish reasons to avoid her, but good gosh, i can't even go downstairs in peace to get a simple glass of water from the kitchen. it's ridiculous. she attaches to me every time i see the kid. what to do!?
