lacking...
i haven't showered since yesterday. i've looked like a ten year old for the past week and a half. i am lacking motivation to get my work done tonight. last week wore me out. we had wet clay deadline on friday night, so i was stressing to get extra pieces finished. i saw vampire weekend last thursday, the night before my interviews at ferebee lane and woodward zwolinski. i'm deciding between the two right now. leaning more toward one than the other, but you'll have to wait until i make up my mind to know where i'll be this summer. friday was incredibly exciting in that i saw a glimpse of my future. i never thought i would get out of college and love what i chose as a career choice, but i honestly think i am going to be happy every day for the rest of my life in graphic design. it's a great feeling to have that part checked off.
i helped out with my friend, hannah's, bridal portraits yesterday. let me just say this. i absolutely despise people who have a nikon d40 and THINK they are professional photographers. yeah, because the fact that they have a digital slr means they can manually edit settings and change out lenses...BUT what good is that if you don't know the basics of composition and lighting. i mean, i may be wrong, but i thought it was common sense to photograph people in shade, or with even lighting on the face, so the sun doesn't mess up their face. when i would suggest a pose, the woman would look at me, first with a look of "you have no idea what you are talking about" and second, she would say something smart, like "that'll probably look bad." excuse me, i helped a photographer for a year and a half photograph seniors and shoot five weddings, and i DON'T know what i'm talking about??? whatever, that's just a little rant on being frustrated with someone with no training in photography. it's hannah's aunt, shooting them for free. i tagged along to help with posing and lighting, but my experience wasn't valued. so frustrating! anyways, these few shots were taken by me, with hannah's point and shoot. edited in lightroom. the shot of her laying on the bricks was the only idea the lady allowed. did i mention she was in a hurry? she rushed hannah through her bridal portraits. last time i checked, the photographer was supposed to make the client feel comfortable and at ease, not rushed and stressed. whatever. hannah looked so beautiful yesterday and i hope her pictures turn out. these are too grainy to enlarge, or i would do it for her. the third picture shows her sassy personality. haha. she wanted to goof off, but her aunt wouldn't let her. sad times. she's not a serious person, it's sad her portraits couldn't reflect that in some way. these turned out pretty well though.
