taz...

prayers, please...

as some of you know, taz, our dog, had a little accident yesterday morning. it was around 5:30 am when my mom let him out to use the bathroom and when she went to call him, he came running in as usual, but never rounded the corner to get to the front porch. she thought he went to the backyard and when she went to the back deck, she saw something on the driveway, where it slopes down to go to the basement. when she went outside, taz was on his back, with his throat toward the sky and his back legs pushed to the side. he was unconscious and bleeding from his mouth. she took him inside and thought he was dead, but then he started breathing again and eventually regained his brain function. he's been in the animal hospital since. the doctors have been running tests, scanning his body, etc. he's on fluids and pain medication that has been working. he hasn't been able to walk since the accident though. he can sense deep pain, but superficial pain, he can't feel. yesterday he was able to move his rear right leg, but nothing else, other than his head. he was excited to see us though, and my mom said that when she visited him today he almost jumped out of his bed in excitement, but couldn't because he's essentially paralyzed. we're hoping he's just immobile due to swelling around his spinal cord near his neck. it's basically a waiting game and if he needs surgery it may be too expensive to do. so, he needs prayer. yes, he's just a dog. he's an old dog too. he'll be eleven in march, but he's the only dog we've ever had. my brother, sister and i that is. it's been pretty rough on us all and we're praying and hoping for the best. he's the best dog anyone could ever want. so, please, pray for him. updates to follow, once we know more.
